Hair do’s
1. Do brush your hair twice a day- morning and night. This will help remove dust, dirt from the hair and also stimulates the blood supply. Brushing hair regularly also helps distribute your scalp’s natural oils through your hair.
2. Do nourish your scalp with oil at least twice a week. Massaging the oil into the scalp increases blood circulation which stimulates hair growth, increases moisture, luster, and shine. This will help to soften and strengthen your hair. Almond oil, coconut oil, extra-virgin olive oil, or jojoba oil are some oils that are very beneficial for the hair.
3. Eating a balanced diet with the right nutrients can help promote hair growth. Incorporate food that is rich in protein, vitamins, and omega 3- fatty acids in your diet. A deficiency in these nutrients may result in hair loss. A healthy diet can help your hair stay strong and shiny and can overall improve your hair quality.
4. Choose a shampoo that is silicone and paraben-free and has natural active ingredients with minimal lather. Using a silicone-free shampoo that doesn’t contain SLS will help you achieve long-term healthy and shiny hair. This will allow moisture to penetrate the hair shafts and the natural oils produced by the scalp can then help nourish and hydrate your hair and restore a healthy balance.
5. Rinse your hair with cold water. Coldwater closes the cuticles and pores in the scalp and also adds luster and shine. This heals the frizziness of your hair shaft and gives it a well-defined, soft, and smooth texture.
6. Trimming is an extremely important grooming step to maintain the shine and overall health of your tresses. Experts recommend that you trim your hair every 12 -15 weeks. Trimming your hair actually encourages hair growth and helps remove nasty-looking split-ends. This process helps remove damaged hair and makes your hair look much thicker and healthier right from the root to the tip.
Hair don’ts
1. DON’T use too much shampoo. No matter which shampoo you’re using, you really only need a dime- or nickel-size amount to cleanse thoroughly. Using too much shampoo can remove the moisture our hair needs. This makes your hair even more vulnerable to damage.
2. DON’T apply conditioner on your scalp. Only apply conditioning products and hair masks near the ends where hair tends to be the driest. Also, don’t use conditioners with silicones and parabens.
3. Don’t overuse heat styling tools. Heat styling degrades hair's natural moisture barrier making your hair dry, brittle, and dull.
4. Coloring, straightening and bleaching processes all weaken the hair. So avoid it as much as you can.
5. Don’t tease, backcomb, tie you're and braid your hair tightly. It causes hair damage that eventually leads to weakened and broken hair follicles.
6. Don’t forget to clean your brushes and combs. Soak them in warm, soapy water and clean it once a week.
