How to take care of your skin during winter
  1. Drink lots of water. Once it's cold outdoors we sometimes forget to drink sufficient water the whole day, but that is the exact time when low humidity will most likely rob our poor skin of its moisture. Try to gradually drink throughout the day instead of one large gulp at a time. Taking in warm winter teas like organic ginger and lemon is a great way of keeping yourself hydrated in winter-at the same time you'll feel healthy, hydrated, and warm. It really is a win-win scenario!
  2. Select the right cleanser: as a matter of fact, most of the cleansers include harmful chemicals that can be harmful rather than rejuvenating. Products like alcohol and any additional fragrances will not support dry, cracking skin as they remove natural oils from our skin. Cream-based cleansers like this one from Heimish All Clean Balm or Himalaya's milk cleanser etc. can help to keep the moisture of our skin locked in, while also keeping off the pollutants and make-up of the day.
  3. EXFOLIATE: When you have dry, flaky skin, it could be the last least of your concerns, however, there are advantages to exfoliating your face during the winter. Not only will it remove the damaged, dead skin, but will also enable you to recreate new ones. Your skin would thank you for using organic, exfoliating scrubs such as this Herveda Ko: Foaming rice Exfoliant
  4. Take Short Showers: When the weather becomes chilly outside, it's enticing to grab for that handle and increase the heat and then have a lengthy, warm bath or shower. Hot showers and lengthy baths are nevertheless a major no-no. Not only will you be dehydrated by overly hot water, but this will also remove the essential oils from your skin. It's a warning that you have already overplayed it if you step out from the bath and your face is infuriatingly red and itchy.
  5. Apply an organic hydrating moisturizer: and apply it directly after bathing. Consider cautiously the moisturizer that you will be applying on your face and your whole body. We advise oil-based products to keep vital hydrating natural oils locked in your skin, instead of water-based products. Lather up moisturizer or body lotion shortly after bathing to keep in as much moisture as needed but don't neglect to use the most hard-working areas of your body, your hands, and your feet!
  6. Sunscreen isn't for summer only. We can instinctively aim for sunscreen during most of the hotter months, but sunscreen is equally important to protect from such hazardous UVs during winters. Ensure that your arms, body, and hands, if uncovered are protected, and go for a sunscreen that has at least SPF 30. The Skin Cancer Research center advises reapplication of your sunscreen each and every two hrs and instantly after massive sweating when you're up on the hills. Do not overlook the areas which are easily overlooked, like the back of your neck, nose, ears, and under your chin!
